It’s often said, “The hardest part of becoming a doctor is getting into medical school. ” Whether this is true or not, it certainly feels true to the tens-of-thousands of premedical students preparing and applying for medical school. Additionally, these students find themselves with scant information, filled with rumors and half-truths, about how to get into medical school. Additional, there is an ever-growing population of ‘non-traditional’ applicants, who are historically under represented in the admissions process, that have an even harder time getting correct information. Such a state of affairs is truly unfortunate and may account for the paradoxical fact that even though the academic qualifications of medical school applicants are stronger than ever, our nation’s physician shortage is rapidly worsening.
Today Publishing LLC knows our first-hand experience will help these students by providing them with the most current, relevant and straightforward information on medical schools and how to get in. Our staff includes a number of physicians, and though they successfully navigated the hurdle of medical school, they realize how much more efficient admissions could be if only the information was organized. It is for these reasons that Today Publishing LLC is proud to announce its newest publication.
PREMEDtoday debuted in late 2007 and serves as a complete medical school admission resource for the rapidly growing number of medical student applicants. PREMEDtoday, will publish twice a year and target those students applying for 2008 and beyond. Furthermore, since the decision to apply for medical school doesn’t happen overnight, we write for students at every level of the preparatory process, even the ‘non-traditional’ ones.
At PREMEDtoday, we feel it is imperative that students, who are committed to becoming a physician, fully understand the eight to sixteen years of additional schooling in store for them. Bottom-line, there are many confusing and distracting issues surrounding medicine, which causes the uninformed a lot of stress and anxiety. By informing premedical students about these issues we cut through the confusion, decrease the stress, and help them to focus on become in a doctor.
